- In-house Retail Real Estate experience with a major landlord or chain tenant.
- Substantial experience in drafting and negotiating commercial retail leases.
- Experience in closing purchases, sales and financing transactions relative to commercial properties a plus, but not required.
- Solid business acumen and judgement.
- Superior verbal, writing and presentation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Impeccable integrity and a robust personal work ethic, including a strong drive to work independently, multi-task, manage time effectively, and prioritize under pressure and manage deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, review and finalize tenant’s transactional retail real estate documents, including letters of intent, amendments, leases, purchase agreements and related documents, and other general corporate documents.
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and control of protocols, strategies and contract templates for real estate leasing, lease administration, development and construction.
- Assist in processing and tracking agreements.
- Assist with contract issue resolution.
- Conduct a broad range of real estate related projects due diligence, including reviewing title reports and obtaining title insurance policies and endorsements, lease administration cost reduction initiatives and special leasing projects.
- Provide support to the project development team to secure stakeholder approvals for new projects.
- Maintain knowledge and expertise in cutting edge real estate leasing, development, construction and procurement law concepts and practices.
- Manage the performance and work product of direct reports, included but not limited to Real Estate Paralegals, Lease Administrators and Lease Abstractors.
Education
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school or equivalent institution.
