Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Radhakrishnan

Thottathil Bhaskaran Radhakrishnan was born on April 29 1959, and he is presently the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. He has served as the first Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court for the state of Telangana for three months. He has also served as the Chief Justice of the Hyderabad High Court and the Chhattisgarh High Court, and the Judge of the Kerala High Court.

Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Radhakrishnan enrolled as an advocate in December 1983 and started practising in Thiruvananthapuram. Later, Justice Radhakrishnan shifted to the High Court of Kerala at Kochi where he practised in civil, constitutional, and administrative matters.

Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Radhakrishnan was appointed as a Permanent Judge of Kerala High Court on October 14, 2004. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court on March 18, 2017, and also he was transferred as the Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court and was sworn in on July 7 2018. He was appointed as the first Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. January 1 2019. He was transferred as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court and was sworn in on April 7 2019.

Travancore Devaswom Board vs. Government of Kerala

The Court said that begging would affect the sanctity of the temple and disturb the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. The Court said that the practice of begging is practised in many places in an organized manner.

It has also been pointed out that begging increases during the pilgrimage season like Sabarimala. The Court directed the revenue officials to take necessary steps to prevent begging in temples and its adjoining areas, especially in major temples such as Sabarimala Travancore and Cochin Devaswom, under boards.

The Court also prohibited the sale of lottery tickets in the premises of temples. All revenue officers and other officers were directed to take steps to enforce the order strictly.

Thottil b. Radhakrishnan, C.J., and Pritinkar Diwakar, J. A division bench of the state-directed state government to support the families of the unfortunate victims of animal attacks. The Court observed that there is a victim compensation scheme under the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure to support victims of crimes by humans. Victims of animal attacks face similar conditions to attacks by humans, and therefore in the absence of any specific plans, the government should give prior assistance to a certain victim's family, whose child died of a dog bite

Karunamoyee vs State of West Bengal and Ors

A bench comprising the Chief Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee was hearing a petition filed by Karunamoyee Samanta with the complaint that the kites are being flown with Chinese manjha / nylon manjha etc., which is a danger to pedestrians and motorcyclists, who use flyovers in particular.

The bench while perusing the reports filed by the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata and Commissioner, Department of Environment, Government of West Bengal observed that according to the order passed by the National Green Tribunal, the use of sugar/nylon/plastic has been banned manjha or thread for kite flying completely. To this end, a notification dated March 20, 2020, as issued by the Department of Environment, the Government of West Bengal has implemented Section 5 of the Environmental Protection Act, 1986 in compliance with the directives of the National Green Tribunal.
