JUSTICE MR. RAKESH SHRIVASTAVA

Born in year 1960, after completing his schooling, Justice Rakesh Shrivastava completed his graduation in Science in the year 1980 and in law in the year 1983 from Lucknow University.

After his graduation he joined the bar and enrolled himself as an Advocate on April 27, 1984.

Rakesh Shrivastava has practiced mainly in civil, constitutional, service, education and labor laws at the High Court at Lucknow and Allahabad and the Supreme Court of India. Along with his practice of law, Shrivastava has also taught Law in Lucknow University.

The early years of his practice were very tiresome and rewarding. He covered a vast area of practice which helped him in his further career advancement from being an Advocate to Judge of the Allahabad High Court and also teaching Law alongside.

He was appointed as Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on April 12, 2013. Later, he took oath on August 02, 2014 as a permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court.

Justice Shrivastava has during the time of his practice and as judge has held various prestigious positions and offices. He has served as counsel for Uttar Pradesh Electricity Board (UPEB), Railways, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPL), Steel Authority of Indian Limited (SAIL), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), UP State Entrance Administration Test and a number of Educational Institutions apart from a large number of public and private organizations.

In year 2014, he was even supposed to head the probe into famous Spoongate Case where allegations were made that the Narendra Modi regime in Gujarat put a woman architect under illegal surveillance.

Justice Rakesh Srivastava have at various times underlined the importance of law as a profession and said that before being a good lawyer one needs to be a good teacher, psychologist and a good human being.

He is also an Administrative Judge for the Districts of Faizabad, Sultanpur, Amethi, Ambedkar Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.

Rakesh Shrivastava also heads the Special Single Bench set up by the Allahabad High Court to deal only with the pending criminal matters against Member of Parliaments (MP) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA). This bench was created with the objective to rapidly deal with the criminal matters of the representatives of people as the number of the same had been increasing very quickly. His bench helped in disposing off the criminal cases involving political figures. 

Justice Rakesh Shrivastava holds the office the Judge of Allahabad High Court since April 12, 2013 and is supposed to hold the same till his retirement which is due on September 28, 2022.
