JUSTICE ASHWANI KUMAR MISHRA

Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra is a sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court.

Ashwani Kumar completed his B.A Honors in Economics from Kirori Mal College. After his completion of B.A, he joined Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi.

He then enrolled as an advocate on May 08, 1993 and started his practice of law. He practiced mainly on Civil, Constitutional and Service side.

He was a well learned scholar and a brilliant lawyer. He has taken responsibilities of numerous offices, organizations and tribunals. During his course of practice, he has been appointed as arguing counsel for many statutory bodies like NOIDA-Ghaziabad Development Authority, Allahabad Development Authority, Indian Farmers Fertilizers Corporation Limited (IFFCO), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Uttar Pradesh Corporation any many more. He being the part of such developmental projects and organization, has helped in boosting up the developmental process and has helped in better addressing the issues of society.

He has also engaged as senior counsel by the State Government in important matters at multiple times.

Taking into account his years of practice and contributions in the legal field, Mishra was designated as Senior Advocate in the year 2013. After his appointment as Senior Advocate, he on February 03, 2014 was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court.

He took oath as a Permanent Judge on February 01, 2016.

He also holds the office as Administrative Judge for the districts Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddhartha Nagar.

Ashwani Kumar in year 2017, in M/s Sevak Enterprise vs. Commissioner, Commercial Tax Lucknow, gave an important judgment with respect to cancellation of registration of a dealer under Uttar Pradesh Value Added Tax Act. He held that, “Wrongful claim of Input Tax Credit (ITC) would not constitute sufficient ground for cancellation of registration of a dealer under UP Value Added Tax Act.” 

Justice Mishra’s journey both as an Advocate and as Judge of Allahabad High Court has been very fruitful and endeavoring. We look forward to learn more about his work before his retirement as Judge which will be on November 15, 2030.
