PART 4(A) ARTICLE 51(A)
There was no existence of the fundamental duties in the origin of the constitution but it was felt by our Government that if there is existence of Rights then there must be some Duties too which should be followed and abided by the Citizens but it should be voluntarily and it should not be imposed but it should be left upon the citizens to let them follow with their own consensus. Thus keeping these in view Govt. made an amendment keeping these in views and added a new Part 4(A) and a new Article 51(A). These duties can’t be made enforceable by any court of Law. The following fundamental duties are as follows:
- To abide by the constitution.
- To uphold and protect the integrity and sovereignty of India.
- To cherish & follow the noble ideals which inspired our national struggle for freedom.
- To defend the country & render national service when called upon to do so.
- To promote harmony and spirit of common brotherhood.
- To value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture.
- To protect and improve the national environment.
- To develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform.
- To safeguard public property and to abjure violence
- To strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity, so that the nation constantly rises.
- To provide education to all children between age group 6 – 14 by their parents.
