Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements with Verafin’s customers and vendors, including technology and software licensing, master agreements, NDAs, consulting, and partner agreements
• Developing and maintaining standard contract templates, terms of service, policies and other forms
• Driving process improvements in the contracting and legal processes
• Working closely with Verafin’s teams to proactively manage risks while continuing to grow our business
• Identifying and analyzing risks and delivering practical, creative solutions to contract challenges
• Ensuring compliance with Verafin policies and applicable laws and regulations

Qualifications

• A degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent)  
• Admitted to practice law in a jurisdiction in Canada or the United States
• 1-5 years experience in legal practice in a relevant area of law, ideally with experience in the drafting and negotiating of technology agreements and B2B contract negotiations
• Experience in contract law, privacy and data protection issues, and contracting in regulated industries
• Strong negotiation skills, both in writing and on calls with opposing counsel
• Critical thinking, analysis, and research skills are essential
• Ability to read, interpret and apply legal documentation, laws or legislation in a multi-jurisdictional context
• Ability to thrive in a non-traditional legal setting, solving novel problems in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to provide timely, pragmatic advice that balances business needs with the mitigation of legal risks
