World Justice Forum 2022 for the Rule of Law

The global pandemic has underscored and exacerbated the lack of just, open, and accountable governance for all. As rule of law continues to deteriorate around the world, communities are falling further behind the ambitious goal to “leave no one behind,” as promised by the Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by all governments in 2015.

In particular, the COVID-19 crisis has highlighted long-standing structural inequalities and governance weaknesses that threaten progress. If communities are to withstand the next shock and fulfill the promise of sustainable development for all, they must strengthen the foundational elements of the rule of law.

As we build fairer and healthier communities, we also need a comprehensive rule of law agenda that tackles the root causes of the failure to achieve equal rights and human dignity for all. Such a multi-faceted agenda would encompass:

1) guaranteeing fair and effective access to justice for all;
2) ensuring open and accountable government and combating the corruption that cheats people of basic necessities; and
3) protecting equal rights and eliminating systemic discrimination.

The 2022 World Justice Forum will convene hundreds of rule of law actors from around the world in The Hague and online for three days of agenda-setting, learning, and action on these pressing issues.

Join the Forum as we work to ensure the path of recovery from COVID-19 is just and that progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals remains on track.

Mode of the Programme

The World Justice Forum will be held in a hybrid format that will entail both in-person and online interactive meetings, plenaries, and working sessions.

For those joining online, the Forum will include opportunities for participation in live-streamed plenaries and online-only working sessions, as well as options for virtual networking with anyone registered for the event, including in-person participants. Plenary sessions also will be recorded for later viewing.
