COVID Files: Experiences of School Going Kids in Lockdown

With 15 lakh educational institutes closed in lockdown and 25 crore tuition centres. Did you ever thought how drastically their routine has changed? Today I will talk about the same. Covid -19 has brought many challenges and being locked in houses is one of them.

With 15 lakh educational institutes closed in lockdown and 25 crore tuition centres. Did you ever thought how drastically their routine has changed? Today I will talk about the same. Covid -19 has brought many challenges and being locked in houses is one of them.

Kids have taken up lockdown in a much finer manner, and we ‘grown-up’s’ need to learn from them. They have taken it sportingly. They have adapted the situation and adapted it quite well. Turned their house into a mini playground, learning things online and attending their schools online. They became much more knowledgeable with tech-savvy.


EXPERIENCE OF A TEENAGER

I myself have a younger sibling who has just given his 10th board exams which ended on 20th march. He expected so much from the free time that he will get after his exams. He wanted to watch movies, go partying with his friends and play a lot. After all the hard work that he put for boards, it was not a lot to ask for.  But lockdown washed them all. Well, I asked many questions from him and was able to get his experience this lockdown.

He said, I am enjoying this lockdown as I am able to do things that I previously wanted without attending the school. He added he loves learning from online classes because of the presentations which makes the topic easy to understand. I asked him don’t you get bored in your free time? He answered’ no’, I watch anime, Netflix and play games in my spare time. 

Although he has some grievances with lockdown which were not being able to play and meet his friends and that is a grave problem for a teenager. But he said whenever I feel like meeting them, I video call and stay connected.


CONCLUSION

Well, while we people take lockdown as boredom and a melancholic time, kids are able to see opportunities in this extremity. There are only a few ways to combat this situation that is through home quarantine, social distancing and following lockdown rules, which we have to follow by hook or by crook.
