TORT

The word denotes a wrongful act or a civil wrong. The commission of this act could either be incidental or due to negligence because of which injury occurs to another. The injury need not necessarily be a physical one but a legal one as well where the legal right(s)of a person are violated.

Illustration

A, who is a Member of the Parliament was abruptly stopped by a police officer from proceeding towards premises of the Assembly in order to cast his vote. Here, A’s legal right to vote has been infringed.
