The first known use of the word ‘Bailee’ was done in 1528. The word Bailee means ‘the person to whom the goods have been delivered by the bailor’. In a bailment agreement when a person delivers a good to another(Bailee) for a specific purpose, the person to whom the good is delivered is known as ‘Bailee’. The delivery of goods doesn’t result in making him the ultimate owner of the goods delivered, he has possession over the goods delivered but cannot claim ownership on the goods delivered. Therefore, he is not the owner but the goods are delivered to him for a specific purpose as soon as the purpose is achieved he has to hand the good back to the real owner of the goods.
