HOW TO FILE AN ONLINE COMPLAINT IF YOUR WALLET IS LOST OR STOLEN

Losing your wallet or a bag containing valuables and other crucial documents could be a traumatic incident. It's not just the loss of money or valuables that may trouble you. It is losing the original/official documents that your bag or purse may have contained that becomes a bigger dilemma.


Have you ever lost your wallet and along with it all important documents like your PAN card and other bank debit and credit cards. Well! We’ve all been there. But now what?


The first and most important step is to file a police report. People usually think that filing a report is a vain attempt because the police will likely never find that missing wallet. But filing a police report is a key step in protecting your identity.


Most people, who want to register a complaint, fright entering a police station since complaining seems like a daunting task or there is a constant fear that the authorities might not be cooperative.


But you don’t need to worry as now you can register your loss and stolen complaint online.


Let’s go through a step-by-step process on how to file an online complaint if your wallet is lost or stolen.






Steps to file Lost & Found FIR Online – Delhi Police


STEP 1.   

  • Visit the official website – Go to the Delhi Police official website

                           (www.Delhi police.nic.in).

  • There are multiple options on the home page, but you have to click on the Citizen Services tab.
  • Then choose the ‘Lost & Found’ options.     
  • After clicking on the Lost & Found option, two options will appear:

Choose the Lost Article Report option.

  • Below the ‘Lost Article Report,’ there will be three options, namely, Retrieve, Register, and FAQ. Select the second option ‘Register’.



    STEP 2.

  • Fill the registration form:
  • Complainant’s Name- Fill in the name of the person who is looking to lodge the E-FIR.
  • Father’s/Mother’s Name- Fill in the complainant’s father or mother name
  • Address of the Plaintiff- Where the individual seeking to file the complaint resides (Required full address).
  •  
  • Mobile Number Claimant 
  • The email ID of the plaintiff will give you a copy of the e-report for verification. 
  • Delhi Place of Loss- Precise information of where the article was lost in Delhi.

 

  • Loss Date- Although the month and year are mandatory, if you do not recall it, you should guess the year. 
  • Time of Loss- If you know the exact timing, fill it out as this is not compulsory.
  • Articles Lost- The name of the 

lost document. 

  • Definition- Basic descriptions of an article that was lost. It is not compulsory. 

Remember- You can add ten things to one report at a time. 

  • ADD- By clicking on this, the information will be added to the file. 
  • Any Other Details-Any other particular article details. This is not mandatory
  • Enter the captcha code on the registration form.
  • Review the details and then click on the submit button.

 

 

 

STEP 3.

  • Check your Email address for the copy of the E- report and take a print out for future reference. 
  • Look for an L.R number on the copy E- report sent to your Email address.
  • L.R number helps you to track the status of your F.I.R., i.e. what all working police have done regarding your report. 

 

 

STEP 4. 

Track the status of your report

 

  • Go to the home page.
  • Then choose the ‘Lost & Found’ options.
  • After clicking on the Lost & Found option, two options will appear:

Choose the Lost Article Report option.

  • Below the ‘Lost Article Report,’ there will be three options, namely, Retrieve, Register, and FAQ. Select the First option ‘Retrieve.
  • Then Enter the L.R. number appear on the report sent to your Email.
  • Then Enter the Email address. The one you entered while submitting your F.I.R.
  • Then click on the search button.
  • Status of your F.I.R. will appear.
