STEPS TO BECOME A BUSINESS COACH

Find your passion and build on it

  • Before amassing degrees and certifications, a business coach has to be focused and empathetically smart.
  • The nature of bringing out the best in others should always exist in a good business coach.
  • Leadership qualities are a must to interact, motivate and persuade clients.

Earn a degree in business studies

  • Business degrees are not a necessity, but basic knowledge of working does help.
  • Coaching requires knowledge of human behaviour, so degrees like industrial and organizational psychology help shed light on working environments.
  • Degrees in human resources or coaching certification will help tremendously to understand the extent of the requirement of a business coach.

Working experience

  • Working in the field and learning practice is the best way to improve and evolve.
  • Business coaches should know how to work in a business organization and present themselves. The requirement of clients can be best understood while working with them.
  • Continued participation helps individuals with information that will be vital for aspiring coaches in the upcoming future.

Participation in training programs

  • Training programs are a great way of maximizing opportunities into action.
  • Approved coaching training programs pave the way for supervised practice and can help an individual think strategically into pursuing this line of work.
  • The length of these training programmes may vary according to the guidelines of various institutions.

Earning certification

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) mainly offers three kinds of program approval for certification:

  • Associate Certified Coach (ACC): This certification requires 60+ hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience.
  • Professional Certified Coach (PCC): This certification requires 125+ hours of training and 500 hours of coaching experience.
  • Master of Certified Coach (MCC): This certification requires 200+ hours of training plus 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

Creation of a smooth working system

  • First, attract the type of clients you love to work with. You need a system and process in place, so they come to you, rather than you going to them.
  • Secondly, creating a trustworthy relationship with the customer is a two-way process, so that the decision-making process becomes more manageable.
  • Finally, deliver your coaching in such a way that gets your clients the proper results, minimizes the time you spend so you can scale your business and create a self-serving system.
